The obverse features a redesign of Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ artwork from the iconic $20 Saint-Gaudens coins, which were used as currency in the United States from 1907 until they were called in by President Franklin Roosevelt in 1933. This historical connection adds a sense of tradition and continuity to your investment. The depiction of Lady Liberty shows her striding forward, holding a torch in her hand and an olive branch in her left. These symbols symbolize enlightenment and peace and portray the American spirit. The sun’s rays in the background represent a new day and a bright future for the nation.

The reverse of the St. Gaudens $20 coin does not resemble the reverse. Designed by Miley Tucker-Frost in 1886, it showcases a family of bald eagles carrying an olive branch flying over a nest, with a female eagle and her chicks, portraying American strength and family values.

Since their introduction in 1986, nearly 20 million 1-ounce Gold Eagles have been sold. As the best-selling gold bullion coins, American Eagle Gold Bullion Coins provide instant liquidity; however, the Krugerrand is likely the most recognized gold bullion coin worldwide.

Gold Eagles are 22-karat gold, containing 91.6% gold and 8.4% copper-silver alloy. The copper-silver alloy causes the coins to weigh slightly more than their stated gold contents. Therefore, the total gold content of a Gold Eagle equates to one troy ounce.

Buying Gold Eagles from CMI Gold & Silver Inc.

American gold Eagle coins had been minted since 1986 in response to the popularity of the South African Krugerrand. While both coins are popular among investors, the Gold Eagle stands out for its unique and exclusive design. It is a gold bullion coin whose weight, content, and purity are guaranteed by the United States Government. 1-oz Gold Eagles have a face value of $50, but they are sold based on their gold content plus a small premium.

In addition to being a government-backed coin, because of their purity, they are eligible for IRAs

American Gold Eagles come in fraction sizes, ½ ounce, ¼ ounce, and 1/10 ounce, making them versatile and easy to liquidate in smaller amounts. This variety empowers investors to tailor their investments to their specific needs, giving them a sense of control and flexibility.

One-ounce Gold Eagles come in tubes of twenty but can be bought in smaller quantities.

Gold Eagles minted from 1986 to 1991 were dated using Roman numerals. In 1992, the U.S. Mint switched to Arabic numbers for dating Gold Eagles. The switch ensured the authenticity and traceability of the coins, giving investors confidence in their investments.

Current year, gold eagles will typically bring higher premiums than back-dated coins. Backdated coins are a great way to save money on these regal coins. Check our special pages often for deals on these gold coins.
